After doing some thinking one day about which person’s car to shoot and not to shoot, I wanted to do something a little different than what I see in most magazine publications today. I want the American individuals that live in Japan to get some recognition for all the hard work and soul they into their cars. Its difficult enough being a foreigner living in Japan, and it can be quite challenging to gain the respect in the car tuning life here, especially for Americans. After spending some countless hours on the computer and making a few phone calls to people, I was able to track one American car owner down. He goes by the name of Robert De Guzman, aka “Bombhet” here in Japan and is the proud owner of a JDM 1995 Nissan Skyline.
Robert, being an official 6 year resident of Japan, it was about 9 months ago when he picked up his 1995 Nissan Skyline, bone stock for around $3,000 USD. As time went by, Robert slowly began to piece his car together with small additions such as a GREDDY Profex B-spec II Boost Controller, APEXi RSM-GP, BLITZ 60mm BLM Boost Gauge, BLITZ 60mm Water Temp Gauge, 5” 3 in 1 Gauge, equipped with a tachometer, water temp, oil temp and shift light. For in car electronics, he chose a Pioneer 6.5 In-Dash DVD Player, iPOD video, front & rear camera, MTX Subwoofer, Kenwood Power AMP, and Pioneer front speakers. The exterior highlights of Robert’s Skyline are equipped with a GT-R Bumper, Carbon Fiber Wing, Type-1 Rear & Side Skirts, and BOMEX Racing side mirrors. Engine wise, the Nissan Skyline is powered by a GTS25-t RB2500 INLINE-6 motor with a HKS GT-2540 turbo, NISMO 555cc Fuel Injectors, GREDDY Intercooler, HKS 80mm Down Pipe & Exhaust System, built and tuned by TAJIMA in Yokohama.
Robert is a really cool, laid back, and down to earth guy. I unknowingly called him while he was at work, but he managed to give up his lunch break in order for me to do the photo shoot of his car. If you want to catch Robert’s car, you can usually find him at his local spot at Yokohama Bay Bridge on Friday and Saturday nights. That’s where everyone usually gathers for some after dark fun and excitement, if you know what I mean.
